About Us
EGA Farms is dedicated to regenerative and sustainable agriculture, primary processing of fresh fruits and other farm products, the production of ready-to-consume foods, and providing fresh, high-quality cuts. We are also committed to reducing food waste through higher-value recycling (upcycling).
In addition, we focus on developing cutting-edge technologies to improve and optimize agriculture in partnership with cooperatives of small and medium-sized farmers in Tacna, Peru.
How We Got Started
Our history began in 2017 with the establishment of Evergreen Agro, a company dedicated to providing high-quality genetic material of Wonderful pomegranates through nursery operations and transplants. We initiated our journey by introducing "Technological Kits" to the first association of farmers in Tacna who were eager to innovate in pomegranate cultivation with the future goal of exporting the fruits.
In 2018, we took the next step with the foundation of Granadas del Sur, where we set up our initial agricultural field spanning 33 hectares of sustainable pomegranates. This site in Yarada, Tacna, boasts technified irrigation and solar panels. Our commitment was to conscientiously manage soil health, water resources, and biological inventory. The realization of this vision was made possible with the support of 10 angel investors who shared our belief in sustainable agriculture.
EGA Agroindustrial was established in 2021 in the Tacna Free Trade Zone, marking the commencement of fresh fruit packing development adhering to the highest quality standards. In 2022, we expanded our reach by supplying pomegranate seedlings to two new associations of farmers in Ilabaya and La Yarada, respectively.
We obtained certifications for the initial farmers' association, enabling us to export the first containers of fresh pomegranates to Europe. The shipment originated from Arequipa and passed through the port of Callao. Simultaneously, we successfully completed the construction of our processing facilities, including the packing house
In 2023, our packing facility commenced operations, facilitating the export of 13 containers from Arica to more than 7 countries, including the United States, the Netherlands, France, Sweden, Serbia, Canada, and Russia. We successfully navigated the challenges of processing for the second association of pomegranate farmers and the initial association of Washington Navel oranges, comprising 38 farmers. Notably, the first fruit for export underwent processing in a packing facility in Chincha, Peru, serving as a test for our latest project.
